Rochester, N.Y.-  The No. 4 Utica College women's lacrosse team lost to No. 1 Nazareth College 13-3 Saturday morning in the first round of the Empire 8 Conference Championships.

Utica got behind 9-0 after being out shot 24-5 in the first half.  Senior Lauren Schreiner () (Cortland/Cortland) got the Pioneers on the board with 17:00 minutes remaining in the second half.  Less than four minutes later senior classmate Jennifer Munisteri () (St. Dominick/Merrick) found the back of the net on an assist by Jackie Vincencio (Miller Place/Miller Place) to make the game 11-2 in favor of the Golden Flyers.

Shreiner assisted Andrea Olney () (Rome Free Academy/Westernville)) on the games final goal as the Pioneers (8-7 overall) completed their most successful regular season in program history, winning eight overall and three in conference play.

Senior goalie Dani Andrew made nine saves for the Pioneers in 60:00 minutes of work.

The appearance in the Conference Championships marks the first time in program history for the Pioneers. Utica won seven of its first ten games to start the season, while defeating conference rival St. John Fisher for the first time in the program's seven year history.

Senior Liz Strodel () (Corcoran/Syracuse) led the Pioneers for the second straight year in points with 56. She led the Pioneers in goals with 47, while adding nine assists.
