Utica, NY - The Utica College volleyball team went 1-3 this weekend at the Union Invitational held at Skidmore College.
The Pioneers won their first game of the tournament against Plattsburgh 3-2. After jumping out to a 2-0 lead, 30-27, 30-21, Utica dropped two straight, 29-31, 26-30, to send the match to the fifth and final game. Utica won the final game 17-15 behind
Karen Crisanti's (Geneva, NY/Geneva) team-high 18 kills.
Christine Mylott (Leeds, NY/Catskill) posted a season-high 41 assists, while
Melissa Austin (Castorland, NY/Beaver River) and
Mereoni Vunibobo (Jamaica, NY/Cathedral) each had 12 and 11 kills, respectively.
Brielle Swerdlin (Chester, NJ/West Morris Mendham) added 12 digs and nine kills for Utica.Â
Utica lost its next three contests to Skidmore (0-3), Russell Sage (0-3), and Union (0-3).Â
The Pioneers (3-9) will return to action Monday against visiting Cazenovia at 7 p.m.
