UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's volleyball team lost to visiting Hamilton College 3-1 Wednesday afternoon at the Clark Athletic Center.
The Pioneers dropped the first two games 30-25 and 30-26, before winning game three 30-28. Hamilton fended off the Utica comeback and won game four 30-26.
Mereoni Vunibobo (Jamaica, NY/Cathedral) led the Pioneers with a team-high 10 kills, while
Brielle Swerdlin (Chester, NJ/West Morris Mendham) and and
Melissa Austin (Castorland, NY/Beaver River) each tallied eight kills. Austin and Swerdling recorded a combined 25 digs.
Junior
Karen Crisanti (Geneva, NY/Geneva) recorded nine kills and eight digs before a foot injury sidelined her for the remainder of the match.
Christine Mylott (Leeds, NY/Catskill) assisted on 27 kills and added a team-high 17 digs for the Pioneers, while
Roxanna Rinker (Harpursville, NY/Harpursville) added 13 digs and four kills.
Utica (4-10) will return to action at 7 p.m. Tuesday against host Elmira College in Empire 8 Conference action.
