The Utica College women's volleyball team defeated visiting SUNYIT
3-0 (30-26, 30-13, 30-27) Monday evening in non-conference action at the Clark Athletic Center. The Pioneers are 3-0 against the Wildcats this season.
UC is 8-14 overall and 1-3 in conference play this season, while the Wildcats dropped to 4-20 overall.
Karen Crisanti (Geneva/Geneva) tied a season-high with 17 kills, seven digs and four blocks. Crisanti has tallied double-digit kills in 11 matches this season.
Sophomore
Melissa Austin (Beaver River/Castorland) tallied nine kills, while senior
Andrea Dekker (Reeths-Puffer/Muskegon, MI) posted a team-best five service aces. Freshman setter
Kaitlin Farruggia (Mt. Markham/Leonardsville) assisted on 36 kills, while tallying ten digs. Farruggia has tallied 30 or more kills in nine matches this year, while Crisanti has posted a team-high 203 kills. Dekker has tallied a team-best 40 service aces this season.
Sophomore outside hitter
Brielle Swerdlin (W. Morris Mendham/Chester, NJ) recorded four kills and seven digs, while
Mereoni Vunibobo (Cathedral/Jamaica) notched three kills.
UC returns to action Wednesday against host Oneonta State at the Chase Gymnasium. The game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
