The Utica College women's volleyball team lost to visiting Oswego State 3-1 Wednesday in non-conference action at the Clark Athletic Center. The Pioneers are now 10-18 overall and remain 1-3 in conference play this season, while the Lakers improved to 12-6.

The two evenly matched teams met four times this season and split the season series 2-2.

The Pioneers lost game one 30-21 before battling back to take game two 30-28. Oswego cruised to victory in taking next two games in succession 30-25, 30-20.

Senior Karen Crisanti (Geneva, NY/Geneva) had a team high seven kills and three blocked shots. She also added eleven digs for the Pioneers. Teammate Andrea Dekker (Muskegon, MI/Reeths-Puffer) added seven kills on 44 attempts and nine service aces. Freshman setter Kaitlin Farruggia (Leonardsville, NY/Mt. Markham) tallied 26 assists and three kills in four games. Melissa Austin (Castorland, NY/Beaver River) ranked third on the team with six kills.

Brielle Swerdlin (Chester, NJ/West Morris Mendham) added five kills and nine digs while Mereoni Vunibobo (Jamaica, NY/Cathedral) tallied four kills and a team-high two service aces. As a team, the Pioneers recorded 34 total kills.
