The Utica College women's volleyball team lost to visiting Oswego State
3-1 Wednesday in non-conference action at the Clark Athletic Center. The Pioneers are now 10-18 overall and remain 1-3 in conference play this season, while the Lakers improved to 12-6.
The two evenly matched teams met four times this season and split the season series 2-2.
The Pioneers lost game one 30-21 before battling back to take game two 30-28. Oswego cruised to victory in taking next two games in succession 30-25, 30-20.
Senior
Karen Crisanti (Geneva/Geneva) had a team high seven kills and three blocked shots. She also added eleven digs for the Pioneers. Teammate
Andrea Dekker (Reeths-Puffer/Muskegon, MI) added seven kills on 44 attempts and nine service aces. Freshman setter
Kaitlin Farruggia (Mt. Markham/Leonardsville) tallied 26 assists and three kills in four games. Mellisa Austin (Beaver River/Castorland) ranked third on the team with six kills.
Brielle Swerdlin (W. Morris Mendham/Chester, NJ) added five kills and nine digs while
Mereoni Vunibobo (Cathedral/Jamaica) tallied four kills and a team-high two service aces. As a team the Pioneers recorded 34 total kills.
