ALFRED, NY - The Utica College volleyball team went 0-4 at the Empire 8 Conference Cross over tournament hosted by Alfred University this weekend. 

Seniors Karen Crisanti (Geneva/Geneva) and Andrea Dekker (Reeths-Puffer/Muskegon, MI) led the way for the Pioneers with 29 kills each in 14 games played.  Crisanti posted a 21% hitting percentage with a team-high seven service aces and 18 blocks.  Sophomore Melissa Austin (Beaver River/Castorland) ranked third on the team with 23 kills and she also added three assists.

Freshman setter Kaitlin Farruggia (Mt. Markham/Leonardsville) assisted on 81 kills and collected 39 digs on the weekend.   Mereoni Vunibobo (Cathedral/Jamaica) ranked second on the team with 16 blocks.  Brielle Swerdlin (W. Morris Mendham/Chester, NJ) once again had a solid overall weekend posting 13 kills, nine assists, four service aces, 15 digs and four blocks.  

The Pioneers dropped to 10-22 overall and 1-7 in conference play this year.  The final regular season contest for UC is Wednesday night when they host Russell Sage College at the Clark Athletic Center for senior night.  The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
