UC WOMEN'S LAX LOSES FOURTH STRAIGHT

UTICA, NY – The Utica College women's lacrosse team lost to visiting Geneseo St. 17-7 Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.

Geneseo remained undefeated and improved to 3-0 on the year, while the Pioneers drop to 0-4 overall.

The Knights jumped out to an early 6-0 lead. Bridget Riley netted two goals with in the first seven minutes of the game while Emily Ward and Maggie Morris each scored before the 20-minute mark of the first half. Shauna Leonard netted the fifth and sixth goals at 17:49 and 14:20 to give the Knights a commanding six goal lead.

Kelly Regan (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) scored the Pioneers first goal of the game with 13:22 left in the first half. Kelly Jones (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) was credited with an assist on the goal.

Geneseo answered right back with five consecutive goals over the next 12 minutes and the score was 11-1 with 1:51 left in the half.

Casey Pelletier (Middletown, CT/Mercy) scored for UC with 13 seconds left in the half and the Knights headed into intermission with a nine goal advantage. Pelletier tallied the first two goals of the second half to cut the Geneseo lead to seven with 23:10 left in the contest.

The Knights outscored UC 6-3 over the final 21 minutes to seal the victory.
