The Utica College men's tennis team was defeated Wednesday in its home opener against visiting Oswego State 9-0.

In doubles action, juniors Mike Zielenski (Marcy, NY) and Paul Alexander (Stittvile, NY) were defeated 8-3 by Ryan Thomas and Jason Marlette, while Santino Vallejas and Khoa Vo lost to Luc Rogers and Paul D'Addio 8-0. Senior Adam Kudic (Split, Croatia) and Sophomore Robert Russell (New Hyde Park, NY) fell to Emmanuel Enzenwa and Patrick Schroeder 8-3.

In singles, Zielenski lost to Ryan Thomas (6-3,2-6,7-6), while Russell fell to Nate Wood 6-3, 6-3. Alexander was defeated by Marlette (6-2,6-0), and Vallejas fell to Rogers (6-2,6-1). Kudic lost to Ron Slater (6-0,6-3), while Khoa Vo was defeated by D'Addio (6-2,6-3).

The Pioneers are overall 0-1, and will travel to take on Hartwick Thursday, April 9 at 4 p.m.
