Junior midfielder Kristin O'Leary (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman) scored three goals this afternoon to help lift Oneonta State to a lopsided 18-6 win against Utica College in non conference women's lacrosse action.
Oneonta (1-2) picked up its first win of the 2007 schedule in its home opener while Utica drops its season opener of the spring.
After spotting Utica a one-goal lead in the first minute of play,
Oneonta stormed back with three straight free-position goals to take the lead for good just nine minutes into the contest. O'Leary, freshman Lauren Portnoy (Sea Cliff, NY/North Shore) and junior Erica Krisak (Syracuse, NY/E.Syracuse-Minoa) all tallied for the Red Dragons.
The visitors cut the lead to 3-2 just three minutes later on a
free-position goal of its own by freshman
Kathy Waite (/) (Levittown,NY/Division Avenue).
Oneonta then ran off six unanswered goals to put the game out of reach and took a commanding 13-5 lead into halftime.
The second half was no different with the hosts putting up five goals to Utica's one en route to the final margin of victory.
Sophomore goalie Eileen O'Toole (Long Beach, NY/Long Beach) only had to make three saves today in picking up her first win of 2007.

Laura Keating (/) (Whitesboro, NY/Horseheads) led the Pioneers with a pair of goals and an assist.
