UTICA, NY – Junior
Casey Pelletier (Middletown, CT/Mercy)Â netted a team-high five goals as the Utica College women's lacrosse lost to host Clarkson University 17-12 Friday afternoon in non-conference action.
With one non-conference game remaining the Pioneers drop to 4-10 overall and 2-5 in the Empire 8 Conference. Clarkson improved to 5-9 overall with the win.
Pelletier, who leads the team with 43 points on 33 goals and 10 assists this season, also collected eight draw controls and six ground balls on the day.
Jill Doherty (Wellesley, MA/Kents Hill) and
Kelly Regan (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) each tallied two goals, while Doherty also added an assist. The duo has combined for 32 points this season.
Junior
Laura Keating (Whitesboro, NY/Horseheads) added a goal and an assist, while
Kathy Waite (Levittown, NY/Division Avenue) and
Marci Coverstone (Union Bridge, MD/Francis Scott Key) each beat Clarkson goalie Erin Duffy once to round out the UC scoring efforts.
Jackie Vicencio (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) also added her sixth assist of the season.
First-year goalie
Jessica LeClerc (Augusta, ME/Deerfield Academy) stopped 13 shots in net for the Pioneers, while Duffy made 12 saves in net for the Golden Knights.
UC returns to action against host Wells College at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
