The Utica College women's field hockey team lost to host St. Lawrence University
2-1 at the Field Hockey Fest 2007 at SLU's North Country Field Sunday.

Carla Delaney scored both goals for the Saints on deflections at the post off penalty corners. SLU took a 2-0 lead by the twenty minute mark of the first half and the Pioneers were unable to rally late. St. Lawrence out shot Utica 16-4 in the first half and held UC to just three shots on goal for the entire game.
The Pioneers lone goal of the game came with just under three minutes left when sophomore
Theresa Staring (Little Falls/Little Falls) deflected a ball out of the air and into the back of the net after freshman
Tiffany Bichrest (Hebron/Harpswell, ME) sent a pass into the circle. Bichrest was credited with her first collegiate assist on the day. The goal marked the first of Staring's career.

Amanda McDonnell (Portsmouth Abby/Sagamore Beach, MA) gave up both goals and stopped eight shots in nearly sixty minutes of action, while back-up
Maggie Wright (Missisquoi Valley/Franklin, VT) stopped three shots in the final 10:26 of scoreless action. Lindsey Taylor stopped two shots in net for SLU.
The Pioneers (1-1) return to action Wednesday against cross-town rival Hamilton College under the lights at Campus Road Athletic Field. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. on campus at Hamilton College.
