FIELD HOCKEY DROPS ANOTHER TIGHT GAME

The Utica College field hockey team lost to host Stevens Institute of Technology 1-0 in Empire 8 Conference action Sunday afternoon. Kara Borzillo tallied the lone goal of the contest 2:09 into the first half.

UC is now 2-6 overall and has lost four games this season by just one goal. The Ducks improved to 6-2 on the season. The Pioneers are 0-2 lifetime against Stevens, falling to the Ducks 2-1 last year.
Borzillo's lone goal came off a rebound after Allison Shields ripped a shot that was saved by UC goalie Amanda McDonnell (Portsmouth Abby/Sagamore Beach, MA). McDonnell stopped a game-high seven shots on the day, while her counterpart, Stephanie Smith made five saves in the shut out.

Freshman Kim Martin (Holland Patent/Prospect) tallied a game-high three shots on goal for the Pioneers, while reigning E8 Player of the Year Katie Kutas (New York Mills/New York Mills) posted two shots on goal.

Stevens out shot UC 24-8 and earned an 11-5 penalty corner advantage.

Head Coach Tarah Christenson and the Pioneers return to action Wednesday against visiting Oswego State. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
