ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Utica College women's volleyball team went 1-3 at the Hartwick College Invitational Friday and Saturday. The Pioneers defeated SUNYIT 3-0 (30-17, 30-22, 30-25) on day two.

UC's three losses came at the hands of Baruch College 3-1 (30-24, 21-30, 24-30, 28-30), and Plattsburgh State twice 3-0 (15-30, 26-30, 23-30) and 3-0 (26-30, 26-30, 22-30). The Pioneers are 7-14 overall and 1-3 in conference play this season.

Karen Crisanti (Geneva/Geneva) earned All-Tournament team honors after recording a team-high 32 kills, 10 blocks, 23 digs and four service aces. Senior classmate Andrea Dekker (Reeths-Puffer/Muskegon, MI) tallied 27 kills and a team-best nine service aces in 12 games. Freshman setter Kaitlin Farruggia (Mt. Markham/Leonardsville) assisted on 100 kills, while tallying seven blocks. Farruggia has 566 assists on the year, while Crisanti has posted a team-high 186 kills. Dekker has posted a team-best 35 service aces this year.

Sophomore outside hitter Brielle Swerdlin (W. Morris Mendham/Chester, NJ) ranked third on the team with 25 kills. She also recorded a team-high 36 digs and eight service aces. Classmate Melissa Austin (Beaver River/Castorland) tallied 21 kills in 13 games.

UC returns to action Monday against visiting SUNYIT at the Clark Athletic Center. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
