The Utica College women's volleyball team dropped to 2-14 overall Wednesday after a 3-0 loss on the road at Oswego. The Lakers swept the Pioneers in straight sets 25-15, 25-17, 25-17.
Last year the Pioneers defeated the Lakers during both their matches. Out of the last six games those were the only two wins against Oswego since 2005.
Juniors
Melissa Austin (Beaver River/Castorland) and
Brielle Swerdlin (West Morris Mendham/Chester, NJ) led the way for the Pioneers with five kills each. Austin also added 17 digs while sister
Miranda Austin (Beaver River/Castorland) assisted on 13 points. The Austin sisters and freshman
Chloe Pierce (Richview/Toronto, ONT) each added two service aces while sophomore
Heather Jackson (John Stark Regional/ Weare, NH) and Melissa Austin each added a block in the loss.
The Pioneers return back in action Saturday as they travel to the Empire 8 Tournament at Stevens Institute of Technology to play Alfred University at 5 p.m.
