UC FIELD HOCKEY FALLS AT HARTWICK

The Utica College field hockey team (7-8, 3-3 E8) lost its third straight Empire 8 Conference game against host Hartwick College (10-5, 4-1 E8), 1-0, in Oneonta, NY Saturday afternoon. Senior Shannon Moats (Vernon, NY) made two defensive saves for the Pioneers.

The Pioneers now need Elmira to beat Ithaca next Saturday to earn a spot in the Empire 8 Conference Tournament.

Hartwick's Jenny Murphy netted the game-winner in the 36th minute of the contest to earn the victory.  Angela Eberly set Murphy up for the goal off a penalty corner.

UC sophomore goalie Monica Storms (Owego, NY) stopped eight shots in her eighth loss of the season.  The Pioneers were out shot 15-2 on the day and the Hawks earned a 12-1 penalty corner advantage.

Utica returns to the turf at home on Wednesday when they take on non conference foe Oneonta State.  The contest is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
