HAMILTON DEFEATS UC FIELD HOCKEY 4-0

CLINTON, NY-The Utica College field hockey team lost 4-0 at local rival Hamilton College Saturday afternoon. With the loss the Pioneers evened their record at 2-2 overall while Hamilton remains undefeated at 2-0.

UC sophomore goalie Monica Storms (Owego, NY) tallied five saves in her second loss of the season while Lindsey Jester (Holland Patent NY) led the way for the Pioneers with two shots. Avion Candice Ashton (Trinidad) added the only shot on goal for the Pioneers. Defensive saves were made by Shannon Moats (Vernon NY) and Lucy Papia (Williamsville NY).

The Lady Pioneers were 4-0 versus Hamilton since 2005. Utica College won 2-1 last year and 4-1 in 2006, both at Charles A. Gaetano. The Pioneers also won 5-2 in 2007 and 4-0 in 2005 at Hamilton.

UC field hockey returns to action Wednesday at 5 p.m. as it hosts Union College at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium in Utica, NY. The Pioneers have not beat Union College since their 4-1 win in September of 2006 at Union. UC lost last year at Union 3-2 and 2-0 at home 2007.
