It took exactly one hour and three straight sets for the Utica College Pioneers to put away the Cazenovia College women's volleyball team Monday evening in non-conference action at the Stephen M. Schneeweiss Athletic Complex.
The Pioneers won the match by scores of 25-7, 25-16 and 25-18 and are now 8-7 overall with the win. Cazenovia fell to 4-6 with the loss.
Chloe Pierce (Toronto, Ont.) led the offensive attack for Utica with 11 kills, followed by Alyssa Sadallah's (New Hartford, NY) six. Miranda Austin (Castorland, NY) was successful in setting up her teammates to the tune of 24 assists on the night and also recorded two blocks. Melissa Austin (Castorland, NY) registered 10 digs to pace the Pioneers defense.
The Wildcats started sluggish and continued to struggle throughout the match, totaling just nine kills as a team and committing 23 attack errors. Four different players had two kills on offense, including sophomore Lauren Harder (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) who also had a team-high nine digs.
Cazenovia is at Skidmore College on Wednesday in another non-league match, while Utica is home against Oswego State on the same day.
