The Utica College Women's ice hockey team lost the second half of a back to back Sunday as they were shut out 4-0 against nationally ranked no. 5 RIT. The Pioneers held the Tigers scoreless through two periods before allowing four straight goals in the third period on the way to their third straight loss. Utica College was out shot 48-15 throughout the game including a tough second period in which they recorded only two shots. RIT recorded the first goal of the game 1:41 into the third period when Belina Hooper scored the game-winning goal off assists from Sarah Dagg and Teneica Hiller. 7:53 into the third period the Tigers Katie Stack scored her 22nd goal of the year off assists from Kim Schlattman and Kylie Mazzetta to bring the score to 2-0. RIT would score its third goal of the afternoon when Belina Hooper scored her second goal of the game off assists from Sarah Dagg and Tenecia Hiller. The Tigers fourth goal would come 18:04 into the period when RIT's Traci Galbraith scored on an empty net.
RIT improves to 12-4-3 on the season and remains in third place in the ECAC Women's West Conference and will play at Chatham at 2 p.m. this Saturday. The UC women will look to snap a three game losing streak this Saturday as they play Oswego State at 7 pm. at Campus Center Hockey Arena.
