The Utica College field hockey team is dedicating its game on Oct. 15 to breast cancer awareness as the Pioneers host RPI on the turf at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. The contest is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. The Pioneers will be selling t-shirts for $10 with all proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Awareness fund.
“So many people have been affected by breast cancer and we all just want to do our part to help the fight during breast cancer awareness month,” says Utica's second year Head Coach Sarah Bergmann. “This is a great initiative and I am proud of our girls for wanting to make a difference.”
UC has invited several area high school teams to participate in the event. There will also be a raffle during the game and the winner will be invited onto the turf to take a shot from the 50 at halftime. If the shot goes in the participant will win a breast cancer awareness t-shirt.
A donation basket will be passed around throughout the game and breast cancer awareness bracelets will also be on sale.
