PIONEERS DROP THREE GAMES IN EMPIRE 8 CROSSOVER TOURNAMENT

The Utica College women's volleyball team lost four games over the weekend at the Empire 8 Crossover Tournament. The tournament was hosted by Ithaca College and held at Ben Light Gymnasium in Ithaca, NY. Sophomore Alicia Andrianos (Memphis, NY/Jordan Elbridge) led the Pioneers with 11 kills, seven digs, three blocks and two assists. Sophomore setter Merideth O'Hara added 27 assists and 15 digs for UC.

In game one, Utica played Alfred University (7-19, 2-6) and lost all three matches (25-20, 25-11, 25-10). Andrianos tallied five kills, two digs, one block and one assist. # Aundrea Dorie (Mount Markham, NY /Mount Markham)# recorded nine digs to go along with four kills and two blocks. Mimi O'Hara (Highland Falls, NY/James I. O'Neill) added 17 assists, two digs and a service ace.

In the second game, UC competed against Elmira College (20-6, 6-2) and lost in three games (25-6, 25-4, 25-16). Senior Heather Jackson (Weare, NH/John Stark Regional) recorded seven digs and two kills. Andrianos added three kills, two digs and one assist for the Pioneers.

In game three, Utica faced Stevens Institute of Technology (27-4, 5-2) and also lost all games (25-16, 25-16, 25-10). O'Hara led the way for UC in this match totaling nine digs to go with five assists and one service ace. Freshmen Stephanie Dew (Boxford, Mass. /Masconomet) tallied five kills, two digs, one service ace, one block and one block assist.

In the final game, the Pioneers volleyed against Nazareth College (16-17, 6-2) and were swept (25-11, 25-9, 25-9). Aundrea Dorie (Mount Markham, NY /Mount Markham) had four digs, two kills and one block. Kate Maroney added seven digs and a service ace.

The Pioneers (1-26, 0-8) return to action Wednesday as they travel to Troy, NY to challenge Sage College in the season finale. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. The Sage Colleges are currently 6-20 overall and 5-5 in the Skyline Conference.
