MEN'S HOCKEY FALLS AT #12 ELMIRA

Elmira, N.Y. (11/6/2010) - The Utica College men's hockey team lost its first game of the season Saturday night, 6-0, at nationally-ranked No. 12 Elmira College in ECAC Men's West Conference play. Headed into the contest UC had allowed just four goals the entire season on its way to four straight victories. Freshman goalie Nick Therrien (Rochester, NH/NY Apple Core (EJHL)) made 18 saves and allowed just two goals in 37:57 of relief work for Utica.

Elmira (3-2, 2-0 ECAC West) jumped out to a 2-0 lead just 1:40 into the contest and the Soaring Eagles never looked back. The Pioneers were outshot 36-26 on the evening and went 0-for-5 on the power play.

Utica (4-1, 1-1 ECAC West) returns to action next Friday night when is hosts Westfield State in non conference play at 7 p.m.
