MEN'S HOCKEY FALLS AT #16 MANHATTANVILLE

The Utica College men's hockey team lost to ECAC Men's West rival and nationally ranked #16 Manhattanville 7-2 Friday after completing only one of their nine power play opportunities. Sophomore Tim Coffman (Laconia/Elversen,PA) put in his team high 18th goal of the season as the Pioneers fall to 8-11-3 overall.

Manhattanville would open the scoring 4:37 into the first period in as Dillon O'Hara scored a power play goal off an assist from AJ Mikkelsen. UC would tie the game up at 1-1 later in the period as Coffman scored off assists from freshman Kyle Zobler (New Hampton Prep/Milbury,MA) and Josh Schmitt (Buffalo/Buffalo,NY). The Valiants would retake the lead 15:35 in as Lem Randall scored off a power play opportunity with help from Matt Piegza and Marcuse Von Sydow.

Manhattanville would put in the game winning goal early on in the second period as AJ Mikkelsen scored off assists from Matt Piegza and Niklas Berntsson 1:28 into the period. The Pioneers put in their second goal of the game 17:59 into the period as senior Vincent Nucci (Capital District Selects/Rochester,NY) scored his sixth goal of the year off an assist from senior Sean McKevitt (Gunnery Prep/Clinton,NY) on the power play. The Pioneers would skate to a 7-2 loss as senior Anthony Luckow (Strathory Rockets/Shelby,MI) recorded 27 saves and allowed four goals in 23:58.

The Pioneers fall to 8-11-3 on the season as Manhattanville improves to 16-5-1 good for second in the ECAC Men's West Conference. The two will play the second half of a back to back Saturday night at the Playland Ice Casino with an expected start time of 7:00 p.m.
