PIONEERS FALL TO FISHER AS GOODMAN REACHES 1,000 POINTS

The Utica College men's basketball team lost to Empire 8 rival St. John Fisher Friday 73-66 as senior Pat Goodman reached 1,000 career points. The Pioneers were led by junior James Patterson and Goodman, who netted 26 and 17 points, respectively.

UC started off strong going on a 10-4 run as Goodman became the 12th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points after a lay-up in the games first minute. The Pioneers would go into halftime up 37-36, despite shooting despite shooting 38.5% from the field behind Patterson's 21 first half points.

The Pioneers would struggle throughout the second half as turnovers and foul trouble would keep them from pulling away from the Cardinals. Junior Will Abrams would keep UC competitive throughout the half as he led the Pioneers with 11second half points. UC would however leave Pittsford empty handed as St. John Fisher would go on to win 73-66. The Cardinals were led by Brandon Witte, who finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Connor Henderson and Jason Norsen each netted 13.

The Pioneers fall to 7-17 overall and 2-13 in conference, while the Cardinals improve to 21-4 overall and 15-1 in the Empire 8. UC will look to bounce back on Sunday as they face Empire 8 rival Elmira at the Clark Athletic Center for senior night with an expected start time of 3 p.m.
