The Utica College men's hockey team remained perfect against Lebanon Valley in their last 19 meetings after a convincing 4-1 victory in ECAC Men's West Conference play on Saturday night. Senior forward Vincent Nucci and sophomore Tim Coffman each tallied one goal and one assist in the victory. Senior goalie Anthony Luckow stopped 22 shots in net for the Pioneers on senior night in front of 3,076 fans at the Aud.
The Pioneers (8-10-3, 4-6-1 ECAC West) have now won two straight headed into the final four games of the regular season. UC heads to Manhattanville next weekend for a two game set before traveling to Hobart for two games on February 19th and 20th.
Four of the games five goals occurred within a span of 9:13 in the first period of play.
Sophomore Soichiro Omi netted his second goal in as many nights to open the scoring on the evening 8:10 into the first period of play. Coffman and Nucci were each credited with an assist on the games' first goal.
Just 38 seconds later the Pioneers went up 2-0 when freshman Evan Chlanda netted his eighth goal of the season off assists from freshman Eric Peterson and senior assistant captain Sean McKevitt.
The Dutchmen responded with their only goal of the evening 25 seconds later to cut the Utica lead in half, 2-1, with less than 11 minutes to go in the first period of play.
Coffman would light the lamp as the first period clock was winding down to give the Pioneers a commanding 3-1 lead headed into the second period. Coffman leads UC with 17 goals this season.
Nucci's fifth goal of the season came on an empty net with 11 seconds to go in the contest.
