The Utica College men's tennis team lost on the road to Stevens Institute of Technology 9-0 on Sunday.
Freshman
Mike Zaloom (Utica, NY/TR Proctor High School ) lost in men's singles competition to the Duck's Piotr Rusinkiewicz. Zaloom struggled in his first set losing 6-0, but rebounded in his second set. However his late rally was unable to force a tiebreaker losing the second set 6-4.
In doubles competition, UC freshmen
Josh Turner (Utica, NY/Sauquoit Valley High School) and
Albert Phalen (Bethlehem, CT/Nonnewaug) were unable to defeat Arik Zeevy and Shota Tasaki losing the match 8-3.
The Pioneers fell to 0-5 overall, and 0-4 in conference play while the surging Ducks jump to 14-2 overall, and 5-1 in conference play. Stevens also places 10th in the latest regional ranking.
UC will continue action at home Wednesday versus Nazareth College. The match is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
