The Utica College men's tennis team lost to host Elmira College Sunday by a score of 7-2. The Pioneers were led by sophomore
Shaun Kaleta (Oriskany, NY/Oriskany) (Oriskany, NY) who won his match in a two set sweep 7-5, 6-2.
Freshman
Thien Doan (An Giang-Long Xuyen, Viet Nam/) (An Giang-Long Xuyen, Vietnam) also picked up a two set win for the Pioneers when he defeated Elmira's Ryan Patterson 6-4, 7-5. UC received a strong match from freshman
Josh Turner (Utica, NY/Sauquoit Valley High School) who took the Soaring Eagles' Gabe Cortes to three sets before losing 7-6, 7-4, 6-2.
The Pioneers will be back in action on May 1st when they travel to Alfred University for a match against the Saxons.
