BOX SCORE

The Utica College field hockey team out shot visiting Geneseo 10-3 in the second half, but the Pioneers could not seem to find the back of the cage, as they lost 3-1 Wednesday afternoon. Senior Lindsey Jester (Holland Patent, NY/Holland Patent) netted the lone goal of the contest for the Pioneers off an assist from classmate Erin Murphy (West Winfield, NY/Mt. Markham).

With the loss UC dropped to 3-4 overall on the year but they are still 1-0 in Empire 8 Conference play headed into a key match-up on homecoming against Stevens Saturday.

Geneseo senior forward Michelle Milkovich opened the scoring on the day when she tallied her fourth goal of the season off a penalty corner opportunity just 7:09 into the contest. Sophomore defender Katie Gallo assisted on the Blue Knights first goal of the contest.

UC netted the equalizer 8:30 later when senior Lindsey Jester (Holland Patent, NY/Holland Patent) tallied her third goal of the season off an assist from classmate Erin Murphy (West Winfield, NY/Mt. Markham).

Geneseo responded right back and took a 2-1 lead at the 17:58 mark when Stephanie Maisonet scored on a rebound to give the Blue Knights the eventual game-winner.

Gallo would add an insurance goal in the 54th minute to seal the two goal victory.

UC goalie Monica Storms (Owego, NY/Owego) tallied eight saves in the cage, while her counterpart Nicole Zito stopped five shots.

The Pioneers return to action on Saturday when they take on Empire 8 Conference foe Stevens Institute of Technology on the turf at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. The contest is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. and it is a part of the College's Homecoming festivities.
