BOX SCORE

Senior Lindsey Jester (Holland Patent, NY/Holland Patent) caged the lone goal of the contest as the Utica College field hockey team remained undefeated in Empire 8 Conference play after a 1-0 victory over visiting Stevens Institute of Technology Saturday. Sarah Keller (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown) assisted on the Pioneer game-winner at the 50:05 marker of the second half. Utica snapped Steven's 17-game conference win streak with the victory. The contest was a part of the College's homecoming weekend.

With the win the Pioneers improved to 4-4 overall and 2-0 in conference play. Stevens dropped to 2-6 overall and 1-1 in the E8.

Jester's third goal of the season beat Steven's goalie Ellyn Griggs, from five yards out, on the left side after a beautiful slot pass from Keller. Junior goalie Monica Storms (Owego, NY/Owego) stopped seven shots in her third shutout of the season. Griggs finished the day with seven saves.

The Pioneers outshot Stevens 13-8 overall and earned an 8-5 corner advantage on the day.
Utica returns to action on Oct. 2 when the Pioneers travel to Ithaca College for its second consecutive conference contest at 1 p.m.
