UC Men's Soccer Falls to Union

Utica, NY (10-1-11) - The Utica College men's soccer team dropped another close game as they lost 1-0 to Union College Saturday night in Schenectady, NY. Sophomore's Kevin McAllister (Boxford, MA/Masconomet Regional) and Jeffrey Cupka (Wilbraham, MA/Minnechaug Regional) combined for four of the Pioneers six shots.

The Dutchmen netted the game's only goal at 16:03 in the first half.  Union's Nick Vozella managed to find the back off the net following his own free kick as he scrambled in front and kicked it in mid air.
Senior's Shane Wiittemann and Jonathan Wood (Derry, NH/Pinkerton) each fired a shot for the Pioneers as they drop their second straight, one goal loss. All four of UC's losses this season were one goal defeats while all four victories came in shut out fashion.

Sophomore goalie Anthony Caruso (Easton, CT/Joel Barlow) continued his solid performance in net as he tallied four saves while allowing just one goal.  Caruso has allowed just five goals in eight contests as he maintains a goals allowed average of under one per game.

The Dutchmen continue their winning ways and improve to 9-1 includng a Liberty League record of 0-1 on the season.  Vozella and Craig Santiago combined for seven of Union's 13 shots.

The Pioneers return to action Wednesday as they challenge local rival SUNY Institute of Technology.  The game is scheduled for 7 p.m.under the lights of Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.
