Clinton, N.Y. (10/26/2011) – The Utica College men's soccer team snapped a six game winning streak on Tuesday night after a 4-1 loss to host Hamilton College.  The Pioneers fell behind 3-0 through 64 minutes and could not manage a comeback despite freshman John Kamilow (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford)'s third goal of the season late in the contest.  Junior midfielder Jeff Konieczny (Hadley, MA/Hopkins) assisted on the Pioneers' lone goal of the contest, while sophomore goalie Anthony Caruso (Easton, CT/Joel Barlow) stopped three shots in net for Utica.

Utica (11-6), which is ranked 10th in the latest NSCAA regional poll, looks to bounce back on Saturday when it hosts nationally-ranked No. 20 Stevens for a pivotal Empire 8 Conference contest at 1 p.m.  In order for Utica to earn a spot in the coveted conference tournament they need to upset Stevens on Saturday and they also need Elmira to lose to host Ithaca.

Hamilton (5-6-3 overall) is unbeaten in its last four games, going 2-0-2 over that span. The Continentals got on the board first in the 26th minute when Griffin Abbott headed a ball in front of the net towards Dan Tempest, who collected and fired the ball into the back of the net. The Continentals led 1-0 at the half.

Hamilton got on the board again early in the second half on a corner kick.  Leo Nizzi played the ball from the left corner to Dillon Friday at the far post.  Friday then sent a perfectly placed header to Tempest, who headed the ball into the goal.  It was the second assist of the year for Friday, and the first for Nizzi.

Hamilton pushed its lead to 3-0 in the 65th minute when Bennett Weinerman played a long pass down the right side to a streaking Abbott, who found Frank Campagnano in the center of the field.  Campagnano collected and buried the ball into the net for his second goal of the year.  Weinerman was credited with the sixth assist of his Hamilton career.

Utica made the score 3-1 in the 83rd minute. Konieczny picked up a loose ball on the right side of the endline and sent a cross towards the back post that was deflected to Kamilow, who slotted it into the net for his third goal of 2011.  It was the second assist of the year for Konieczny.

Buck Reynolds rounded out the scoring with just under 5 minutes remaining.  After a Hamilton cross was deflected to his feet, Reynolds turned to his right, beat his defender off the dribble and blasted a shot into the corner of the net.
