Utica, N.Y. (3/31/2011) – The Utica College softball team will play four games over the weekend starting on Saturday with a double-header at Elmira (0-0). Then UC comes back home for a double-header against Skidmore College (3-9) on Sunday. The Pioneers, who have not played in 13 days, are currently 6-4 on the season.
Junior pitcher
Heather Kingsbury (Williamson, NY/Williamson) has been outstanding in her first season with the Pioneers. She has a 4-1 record to go along with a 1.79 ERA (fifth best in the conference). Sophomore pitcher
Stephanie Romanow (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) has also pitched well and boasts a 1.91 ERA to go along with one save. The Pioneers are the proud owners of the second best pitching staff in the conference, statistically speaking, with a team ERA of 2.32.
Sophomore catcher
Mallory Ingalls (Oriskany, NY/Oriskany) is batting to a .432 average (14-for-32) with eight runs scored, six RBIs, three doubles and one triple. Classmate
Hannah Barton (Adams Basin, NY/Brockport) is ranked third in the conference with ten RBIs.
Senior outfielder
Kim Martin (Prospect, NY/Holland Patent) is batting .353 with three stolen bases (leads the team) to go along with nine runs scored, four RBIs, two doubles and a triple. Sophomore third baseman
Bridgette Plummer (Saratoga Springs, NY/Schuylerville) is batting .400 on the season and has scored nine runs.
The Pioneers have the third best defense in the conference with a .951 fielding percentage. As a team they are hitting .283.
Saturday and Sunday's games are both scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
