WOMEN'S LAX TRAVELS TO GENESEO WEDNESDAY

Utica, N.Y. (4/12/2011) – The Utica College women's lacrosse team (4-5, 1-4 Empire 8) will be traveling to SUNY Geneseo (7-0, 2-0 SUNYAC) Wednesday for a non-conference matchup. The Pioneers are led by senior Tammy Kohanski (Syracuse, NY/Corcoran) who has a team-best 40 points (28 goals, 12 assists). She also leads the team in caused turnovers with 17.

UC is 1-2 against the Knights all-time. Utica defeated Geneseo in their last matchup on March 5, 2009, 10-9. Senior Julianne Schultheiss (Commack, NY/Commack) netted a team-high three goals in the victory.

Junior Katlyn Banker (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) leads the Pioneers with 12 assists to go along with her 13 goals. Senior Lily Fleskes (Dover, MA/Dover Sherborn) is ranked second on the team with 13 goals and has a team-high .565 shot percentage.

Junior goalkeeper Shelby Barbay (Waterloo, NY/Waterloo) is 4-5 on the season and has the second best save percentage in the conference at .530. She also has a 9.70 goals against average.

Senior Kasey Lederle (Central Square, NY/Paul V. Moore) and freshman Kaela King is the key to the Pioneers defense. They have a combined 24 caused turnovers and 23 groundballs.

The game is scheduled for 4 p.m.
