Utica, NY (April 6, 2011)- The Utica College women's lacrosse team looks to redeem themselves after a loss to Ithaca, as they travel to take on Empire 8 opponents RIT and Nazareth this weekend (April 9-10).

The Pioneers who are 4-3 overall and 1-2 in the conference, take on RIT (2-7,1-2) on Saturday, April 9 at 3:30 p.m. UC has faired well against the Tigers over the years, going 4-6 all-time.

UC will then travel to take on Nazareth College on Sunday April 10 at 1 p.m. The Pioneers are looking to give the Golden Flyers, who are 1-0 on the conference and 6-2 overall, their first conference lost of the season. While UC looks to give Nazareth their first conference loss, the Pioneers are also looking for their first win against the conference opponent, they are 0-11 all-time against Nazareth.

Senior Tammy Kohanski (Syracuse, NY/Corcoran) will lead the Pioneers this weekend. Kohanski ranks first on the team with 17 goals and 12 assists. She is ranked second in the conference in points per game (4.14). Junior Katlyn Banker (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) is second on the team in points with 17 (9 goals, 8 assists).

Shelby Barbay (Waterloo, NY/Waterloo), who was the Empire 8 Goalie of the Week for back-to-back weeks, will hope to continue her dominance. She has the second best save percentage in the conference at .588 and is fifth in the conference with an 8.16 goals against average.

Utica ranks second in the conference in goals against average (8.14) and caused turnovers per game (10.29).
