Hamilton 3, Utica 0 - Box Score

Utica, NY (9-14-11) - The Utica College volleyball team lost 3-0 to cross-town rival Hamilton College Wednesday night in Clinton, NY.  Freshman Alyssa Nicotera (New York Mills, NY/New York Mills) recorded a team-high six kills and nine digs for the Pioneers.

UC falls to 0-7 overall this season while the Continentals improve their overall record to 7-2.

Sophomore Leah Kazalski (Greene, NY/Greene) added eight digs, one solo block and one service ace on the night.

Sophomore Liz Sacco (Franklin, Mass. /Franklin) along with freshman Taylor Grunert (Lowville, NY/Beaver River) and Kelle Furno each added three digs for Utica.

Furno tallied all seven Pioneer assists as UC still looks for its first victory of 2011.

The Pioneers return to the hardwood Friday as they travel to Schenectady, NY for a two-day tournament hosted by Union College.  On Friday, UC will face The Sage Colleges at 6 p.m. followed by Hartwick College at 8 p.m.  On Saturday, Utica challenges Oswego State at 10 a.m. and then will square off against the host Dutchwomen at 2 p.m.
