UC Hits the Road Saturday for E8 Game at Fisher

Caruso has four shut outs so far this season

Utica, NY (9/21/2011)- The Utica College men's soccer team will take on St. John Fisher for its second conference game of the season on Saturday. The contest will be held at Growney Stadium in Rochester, NY at 5 p.m.

The Pioneers are currently 4-2 overall and are fresh off an 8-0 non-conference win over Elms College. Over

the last six years, the Pioneers have a record of 3-4 against rival St. John Fisher. One of these losses sent the Pioneers home in the Empire 8 Conference tournament in 2007. The Cardinals are 1-4 overall this season.

The Pioneers are led by sophomore Kevin McAllister (Boxford, MA/Masconomet Regional) who has 11 points (five goals, one assist) through six games. McAllister was recently named Empire 8 Player of the Week.

Senior Jonathan Wood (Derry, NH/Pinkerton) has also come up big for the Pioneers with three goals and four assists so far.

Sophomore goalie Anthony Caruso (Easton, CT/Joel Barlow) has registered 15 saves and four shut outs in his six starts this season.

The Pioneers remain on the road next Saturday when they take on Union College in Schenectady, NY. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Union College is currently off to a perfect 7-0 start. The Pioneers last faced the Dutchmen in 2009 when Jonathan Wood (Derry, NH/Pinkerton) scored the game winning goal to lift Utica to a 1-0 victory.
