Sacco Tallies 8 Kills, Nicotera Registers 16 Digs in UC's Loss to Oswego

Utica, NY (9-21-11) - The Utica College women's volleyball team lost 3-1 to Oswego State Wednesday night at the Clark Athletic Center.  Sophomore Liz Sacco (Franklin, Mass. /Franklin) led the Pioneers with eight kills and three digs.

UC falls to 1-12 on the season while, the Lakers improve to 3-8 overall.

Freshman Alyssa Nicotera (New York Mills, NY/New York Mills) added 16 digs and two aces as she now leads UC with 121 digs on the season. 

Freshman Kellee Furno (Baltimore, MD/Maryvalle) tallied 18 assists and has team-high 101 on the season.  She also added four digs and two aces.

Sophomore Hayley Strife (Lowville, NY/Lowville) and freshman Mariah Walker (Frankfort, NY/Franfort-Schuyler)  combined for 10 kills for UC over the course of four games. 

The Pioneers return to action Saturday as they travel to Elmira, NY for the Empire 8 Cross Over Tournament. On Saturday, Utica is scheduled to play Stevens at 12:30 p.m.and Hartwick at 5:30 p.m.  On Sunday, UC is scheduled to face Ithaca at 9 a.m. and St. John Fisher at 2 p.m.
