UTICA, NY (9/23/11)- The Utica College field hockey team returns to Empire 8 action Saturday when it hosts undefeated Washington & Jefferson College on the turf at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. The contest is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.

LAST WEEK: The Pioneers have had two big wins in the last week … Utica defeated conference rival Steven's Institute of Technology 5-3 in Hoboken, NJ on Saturday … UC followed that up Wednesday with a 2-1 win at 2010 NCAA tournament participant Geneseo.
WHERE WE SIT: UC is currently riding the highs of its second two game wins streak of the season and the Pioneers are currently 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the Empire 8.
COMING HOME: This is the first of a four-game home stand for the Pioneers… UC has won its last four home games dating back to Oct. 9 last season … The Pioneers lone home contest of the season resulted in a 1-0 win over Oswego State in the pouring rain on Sept. 7.
SERIES: UC is 3-3 all-time against the Presidents. … Last season the Pioneers were knocked out of the Empire 8 Conference Tournament with a 3-2 loss at the hands of W&J… UC lost to the Presidents in two consecutive games to close out the season last year.
