Meghan Fiore (Epping, NH/Epping), who netted a team-high 13 points for UC, became the 10th player in school-history to record over 1,000 points in a career. Fiore is the third player in three years to join the 1,000 point club, following in the footsteps of 2011 graduates
Jessica Berry (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) and
Devon Croll (Vernon, NY/Vernon Verona Sherrill).
Utica dropped to 7-12 overall and 2-6 in the conference play, while Hartwick moved to 15-3 on the season and remains in first place with a 7-1 conference mark.
'Wick opened up the contest on a 9-0 run over the first four minutes of play before Utica sophomore
Alyssa Filkins (Castleton, NY/Maple Hill) drained a 3-pointer to cut the Hatwick advantage to 9-3. The Hawks continued their surge with an 11-0 run as they jumped out to a 21-3 lead with just ten minutes left in the first half. UC cut the lead to 25 with just under four minutes remaining and trailed 62-37. The Pioneers outscored Hartwick, 23-11, over the course of the last ten minutes, but they fell far short of a remarkable comeback as the Hawks sealed the season sweep.
