Marcy, NY (10/10/12)- The Utica College volleyball team dropped a close one Wednesday night as it fell to cross-town rival, SUNYIT, 3-2.
Each team traded sets (15-25, 25-18, 15-25, 25-22) before the host Wildcats were able to win the fifth and deciding set 15-8.
Sophomore Madison Bayer (Islip Terrace, NY/East Islip) had an impressive performance leading the team in both digs (17) and kills (14). Classmate Cassandra Manzer (Portcrane, NY/Chenango Valley) was second with 12 kills and 12 digs, while Kellee Furno (Baltimore, MD/Maryvalle) had a team-high 23 aces.
The Pioneers return to action Friday as they travel to the Hartwick Invitational this weekend. Game times are still being decided.
