Box Score Utica 3, Cazenovia 2- volleyball final

Cazenovia, NY (10/27/12)- The Utica College volleyball team wrapped up its season Saturday by defeating host, Cazenovia, 3-2.

Both teams split the first two sets, with each squad winning by identical 25-23 scores, before Caz took a 2-1 lead after the third set. The Pioneers battled back in the fourth frame for a come-from-behind win, 25-23.  UC then controlled the final set winning by a final of 15-11.

Sophomore Madison Bayer (Islip Terrace, NY/East Islip) tallied her second straight double-double recording 11 kills and 11 digs on the afternoon.  Classmate Cassandra Manzer (Portcrane, NY/Chenango Valley) also had 11 kills, while Briona Enny (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) had a team-high 14 digs.  Chelsea Lauria (Erieville, NY/Cazenovia) led the Pioneers with 17 assists, while Kellee Furno (Baltimore, MD/Maryvalle) added 14 assists of her own. 

The Pioneers finished the season with a 9-21 overall record and a 1-7 mark in the Empire 8.  This was the team's best finish since 2009.
