Utica, NY (11/2/12)- The Utica College women's ice hockey team begins its quest for its 11th ECAC West Conference Tournament appearance this weekend as it opens up regular season play against league opponent, Oswego State. Friday's game will be in the friendly confines of the Utica Memorial Auditorium, before both teams travel to Oswego for Saturday's contest. The puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. both days.
Last Time Out: The Pioneers are coming off three exhibition wins over two of the top junior teams in North America… UC traveled abroad for the first time in the program's 12-year history for a two-game set in Toronto, Canada in early October… They defeated the Etobicoke Dolphins 4-3, before downing the Toronto Aeros 4-1… Most recently, Utica had a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory over Toronto two weeks ago to kick off the home season.

Leading the Way: Up front the Pioneers return star forward
Megan Myers (Las Vegas, NV/LA Selects), who led the league and was third in the nation in points scored last year... The junior all-conference selection from Las Vegas, NV became just the fourth Pioneer in program history to record 40 or more points in a single season… Junior
Brittany DelleChiaie (Leominster, MA/The Winchendon School) has also added offensive power this year… Through the three exhibition games, DelleChiaie has tallied five goals and an assist to lead the Pioneers.
Scouting Oswego: Oswego is 0-1-1 on the season and is coming off a 1-1 tie to New England College last Saturday… The Lakers finished last year with an 11-14-2 record and made it as far as the semifinals of the ECAC West Tournament before being knocked out by Plattsburgh State... Last year the teams split with each winning a game on the road…
Carmen Johnson (Falls Church, VA/Washington Pride), Myers, and DelleChiaie all registered a goal and an assist on the weekend… The Pioneers have a 10-2 record all-time against Oswego, with their two losses being identical 3-2 overtime defeats.
Looking Ahead: UC returns to the ice next weekend as they have a home-and-home series with ECAC West rival, and nationally ranked No. 5 Elmira College… Friday's contest will be at Elmira, while Saturday's will take place at “the Aud.” Both games will be at 7 p.m.
