Box Score Oneonta, NY (12/4/12)- The Utica College women's basketball team dropped a close one Tuesday night, 58-50, as it opened up Empire 8 Conference play against Hartwick College. Meghan Fiore (Epping, NH/Epping), Bridget Greenwald (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) and Alyssa Filkins (Castleton, NY/Maple Hill) each netted ten points, while Greenwald brought down a game-high 19 rebounds to pace the Pioneers.

Hartwick went on a 14-2 run in the first five minutes of the game before the Pioneers were able to rally back to go into the locker room trailing 27-24.  UC came out strong in the second half to overtake the lead behind layups from Fiore and Mary Miceli (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle).  However, the Hawks battled back and went ahead for good with 16:40 remaining to pick up their sixth victory of the year.

Brittany and Raquel Baudanza scored the only 3-pointers for UC, while Raquel also added three free throws and two rebounds.  Miceli and Samantha Stayer (Allegany, NY/Allegany-Limestone) combined for eight points nine boards on the night.

UC (3-4) returns to action Friday as it hosts Stevens Institute of Technology for its “Game for Brooks Miles” to support Faxton-St. Luke's Hospital and the Children's Miracle Network… Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
