Senior Brittany Baudanza and the Pioneers look for their first Empire 8 win against Stevens
Utica, NY (12/6/12)- The Utica College women's basketball team returns to action Friday as it hosts Empire 8 opponent Stevens Institute of Technology for Utica's “Game for Brooks Miles.” Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Meghan Fiore (Epping, NH/Epping) and juniors
Bridget Greenwald (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) and
Alyssa Filkins (Castleton, NY/Maple Hill) each netted ten points, while Greenwald added a game-high 19 rebounds in the loss.
Where We Sit: Utica is 3-4 overall and 0-1 in the Empire 8 Conference… UC has averaged 57.9 points per game while holding opponents to 56.7 points per contest.

Twice as Nice: Saturday's contest is part of a UC basketball double-header featuring the women's game at 6 p.m. followed by the men's team facing nationally ranked No. 25 Stevens at 8 p.m… The men are 3-3 overall and 1-0 in the Empire 8… They are coming off a thrilling 75-72 win at Hartwick on Tuesday.
Brooks Miles: Brooks Miles Rorick, son of Greg Rorick '98 and Angela Rorick, passed away from heart complications shortly after he was born on April 1, 2008… Greg, a local podiatrist and Utica College Alum, and his wife Angela are cousins of UC Women's Basketball Head Coach
Michele Davis and the idea to host a game in memory of Brooks Miles spawned in April of last year and came to fruition over the Summer… The Pioneers will wear “A Game for Brooks Miles” T-Shirts during warm-ups and throughout both games there will be a 50/50 raffle, T-Shirt give-a-ways, and a bake sale… Charles A. Gaetano Construction Corporation has generously donated the warm-up T-shirts for the Pioneers… All Proceeds will be donated to the Faxton St. Luke's Healthcare Foundation and the Utica branch of the Children's Miracle Network.
Fiore On the Brink: Senior
Meghan Fiore (Epping, NH/Epping) needs just two rebounds to become the sixth player in program-history to record over 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in a career… She recently moved into sixth place on the College's all-time scoring list and currently has 1,220 points in her career… The forward leads the team with 107 points on the year and has 44 rebounds through seven games.
Stayer Staying Hot: Sophomore
Samantha Stayer (Allegany, NY/Allegany-Limestone) is third on the squad with 57 points and 38 rebounds… She also has an impressive .867 free throw percentage after sinking 13-of-15 from the line.
Greenwald Getting It Done: Junior
Bridget Greenwald (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) leads the team with 78 boards and is second with 69 points on the season… She is just shy of a double-double average as she has netted 9.9 points per game… She has totaled at least 13 rebounds on three different occasions.
Sister Act: Senior
Brittany Baudanza (Staten Island, NY/Staten Island Tech) and freshman Raquel Baudanza have made their presence felt on the floor this season… The duo combined for Utica's only 3-pointers against Hartwick on Tuesday… Brittany has 21 points and 22 rebounds, while Raquel has 22 points, 11 rebounds and is 8-10 on free throws.
Scouting Stevens: The Ducks are 3-3 overall and are coming off a 76-69 overtime loss to SUNY New Paltz on Tuesday… Stevens is led by Avis Benjamin, Dylan Krause, and Miranda Ripken… Benjamin has a team-high 89 points, and 54 rebounds, while Krause (75 points, 44 rebounds) and Ripken (74 points, 39 rebounds) have also contributed on both sides of the court… UC is 3-10 all-time against Stevens… Last year the Ducks won both meetings between the two teams, 57-46 and 56-49.
Looking Ahead: UC travels to Schenectady, NY Tuesday to take on Union College for the last game before the winter break… Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
