Utica Posts Second Straight Shut Out - Pioneers Top SUNYIT 16-0

The Pioneers have held their opponents scoreless in two straight games

Utica, NY (3-21-12) - Eight different Pioneers found the back of the net en route to a 16-0 rout against cross-town rival SUNYIT Wednesday in Marcy, NY. Senior Katlyn Banker (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) along with freshmen Patricia Kane (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) and Samantha Gebler (Vestal, NY/Vestal) combined for 10 of UC's 16 scores in its second consecutive shut out.

Banker led the way with a four goal, three assist performance, while Kane posted her second consecutive hat trick. Gebler recorded her first collegiate three-score game including the first and last goals of the contest.

The Pioneers also recieved help from Maria Santucci (Holliston, MA/Marian), who had two goals and one assist, while Kristen Beckman (Lake Placid, NY/Northwood), Janet Campo (Centerport, NY/Harborfields), Kelcie Marshall (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott), and Vanessa Maines (Boxborough, MA/Acton-Boxborough Regional) picked up a goal a piece. 

UC held the Wildcats to just one shot on goal, while firing 17 shots of their own. 

The Utica College women's lacrosse team (2-1, 0-0 Empire 8) has now won two straight while blanking the opposition 33-0. UC returns to action Saturday for the first of a three game home stretch against Clarkson University.  Face-off is set for 4 p.m. at Geatano Stadium.
