Utica, NY (4/27/12)- The Utica College women's lacrosse team is on the road this weekend as it wraps up the regular season. 

Game Time: Saturday's game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. at Higgins Stadium on the Campus of Ithaca College, while Sunday's game is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Last Time Out: The Pioneers are fresh off back-to-back conference wins over Alfred (14-4) and Elmira (7-6)… UC downed Elmira in the last minute of play as Katlyn Banker (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) scored the go-ahead goal with 53 seconds left, and goalie Shelby Barbay (Waterloo, NY/Waterloo) stopped a free position shot with 16 seconds left to seal the victory.

Where We Sit: Utica is now 8-5 overall and 3-3 in the E8... Ithaca sits atop the conference with an 11-3 overall record and a 6-0 mark in league play… St. John Fisher (10-4 overall, 5-1 E8) is second, while Stevens (9-4 overall, 4-2 E8) and Nazareth (7-6 overall, 4-2 E80 are tied for third… Utica is fifth, while Elmira (4-6 overall, 1-5 E8) and Hartwick (5-9 overall, 1-5 E8) are tied for sixth… Alfred (4-9 overall, 0-6 E8) rounds out the standings.

Banker Continues Hot Streak: Senior Katlyn Banker (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) continues to stay hot as the regular season is coming to a close... Last week, Banker netted nine goals and added two assists to move her season totals to 41 goals, 16 assists, and 57 points... The senior standout has scored at least one goal and has recorded at least two points in every game thus far for the Pioneers.

Fresh Out of the Gates: Three of the top five point scorers this year have been freshmen... Samantha Gebler (Vestal, NY/Vestal) is second on the team with 16 goals and 15 assists while twin sisters Patricia Kane (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) and Megan Kane (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) are ranked fourth and fifth with 20 and 19 points, respectively.

Barbay In Top Form Again: Senior Shelby Barbay (Waterloo, NY/Waterloo) looks to continue her superb season... She stopped 20 shots in three games last week... Barbay leads the conference with a .511 save percentage, and is currently ranked fourth in saves per game with 7.00.

Scouting Ithaca: The Bombers are currently first place in the Empire 8 conference… They are coming off a 9-8 win over nationally ranked No. 19 Hamilton College…  The Bombers are led by junior Tracy Rivas, who has compiled 43 goals and 23 assists in 14 games so far…  UC is 2-5 against Ithaca dating back to 2005…  Last year the Pioneers fell to Ithaca 12-4.

Scouting Potsdam: The Bears are currently 4-11 overall and 1-7 in the SUNYAC… They are coming off an 18-14 loss to New Paltz… Potsdam is led by senior Maribeth Simmons who has netted 29 goals and three assists through 15 games… UC is 5-1 against the Bears dating back to 2006… Last year, Utica won the meeting 16-6… Katlyn Banker (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) scored a team-high seven points, on three goals and four assists, while classmate Shelby Barbay (Waterloo, NY/Waterloo) recorded nine saves on the day.
