UC Women's Lax Falls to Ithaca in Final Empire 8 Contest

Ithaca, NY – The Utica College women's lacrosse team lost to Empire 8 Conference power Ithaca College 21-3 Saturday afternoon.  The Bombers jumped out to a 13-1 advantage in the first half and never looked back as they remained perfect in conference play at 7-0 and improved to 12-3 overall.  The Pioneers, who have one non-conference contest left on Sunday at Potsdam, dropped to 8-6 overall and 3-4 in conference play.  Freshman Morgan Dupont, Patricia Kane (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) and Megan Kane (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) each registered one goal for the Pioneers, while Kristen Beckman (Lake Placid, NY/Northwood) chipped in with one assist.

Senior goalie Shelby Barbay (Waterloo, NY/Waterloo) stopped 12 shots in her final Empire 8 contest, while Jennifer Rogaski (Schenectady, NY/Colonie Central) added a team-best three ground balls. 

The Bombers opened the contest with six straight goals in less than 13 minutes to take a quick 6-0 lead before UC got on the board.  Patricia Kane (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) registered Utica's first goal of the game at the 15:44 ledger to cut the Pioneers' deficit to five.

Ithaca answered with seven straight tallied to close out the half with a 12 goal lead. The Bombers went on to outscore UC 8-2 in the final 30 minutes to seal the victory.  Dupont and Megan Kane (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville)'s goals came in the second half for Utica.
