Rochester, NY (4-29-12) – The Utica College men's golf team wrapped up the 2011-2012 season this weekend with a two-day total of 703 at the Nazareth Invitational. Three Pioneers, junior
John Gaspa (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro), senior
Ethan Kreisel (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) and freshman
Christian Leogrande (New Hartford, NY/Notre Dame), each totaled a 172 over the two-round tournament.
The Pioneers shot a 353 on Saturday at Monroe Country Club (Pittsford, NY) and a 350 on Sunday at Ravenwood Golf Club (Victor, NY).
Gaspa struck an 87 on day one and followed up with an 85 while Kreisel totaled an 84 and an 88 followed by Leogrande tallying an 89 and a team-best 83, on day two.
Utica competed in seven tournaments this season including the host of the first two rounds of the Empire 8 Fall Golf Championships held at the Yahnundasis Golf Club.
The Pioneers recorded their season-best, 337, on Sept. 1, 2011 while hosting the UC Fall Invitational at Kanon Valley Country Club in Oneida, NY. Utica recently posted a 345 at the UC Spring Invite, also at Kanon Valley, carding its second best team-round.
