Men’s Golf Set to Kick Off Spring Season at Oswego Spring Thaw Tournament

UTICA, NY - Utica University's men's golf team is set to begin its spring slate, beginning with a two-day trip to Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort in Pennsylvania. The event is the first on the squad's calendar since mid-October of 2025, part of a 2026 spring season that currently features four competitions. Tee time on day one is set for tomorrow, April 3rd, at 1:30 pm. The following day, Saturday, April 4th, play resumes at 8:30 am.

How The Fall Ended: The Pioneer men's golf team opened its championship segment of the 2025-26 campaign with a fifth-place finish at the Empire 8 Fall Championship, held at Teugega Country Club. The Pioneers combined for a two-day score of +58, carding rounds of +28 and +30, and finished just three strokes behind SUNY Canton in a tightly contested middle of the standings. Nathan Macdonald (Canton, MA/Canton) led the way for the orange and blue with a 10th-place finish at +14, while Neil Roman (Oswego, NY/Oswego) followed with a 16th-place showing at +17.

Utica saw strong depth throughout its lineup, as Koltin Pickell (Ellenville, NY/Ellenvlle), Aydin Parekh (Nobleton, Ontario/Blyth Academy), and Adam Degregory each finished tied for 20th at +19, while Drake Morse (Grand Rapids, MI) rounded out the active group with a 28th-place finish at +23. The performance capped the fall portion of the schedule for the Pioneers, who now turn their focus toward the spring season, looking to build on a balanced lineup that saw all six golfers contribute at the conference championship level.

About The Course: The course at The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort features 27 total holes, split into groupings of nine and labeled red, white, and blue, each with a par rating of 36. The white set of holes plays the shortest, ranging from 2867 to 3227 yards, while the red and blue sets play longer, at 2922-3362 and 2928-3438 yards, respectively. Playing 18 on the blue and red holes, the USGA Slope rates between 117 and 123, while ranging between 118 and 124 on the reds and whites, and between 118 and 121 when playing the white and blue holes.

Up Next: The Pioneers will face a quick turnaround following the Oswego event, traveling to Lakeside Country Club in Penn Yan, NY next Tuesday, April 7th. Keuka College will host its Spring Invitational, with tee times beginning at 10:00 am.
