Men’s Golf Places 5th in First Two-Day Meet of 2025-26 Season

OSWEGO, NY - Utica University's men's golf team traveled to Oswego over the weekend, competing in the Oswego State Fall Invitational. The event, which was played over both Saturday and Sunday, was played at the Oswego Country Club. Utica finished fifth of nine teams in team scoring on the 6,424-yard, par-71 course.

The Pioneer squad turned in team rounds of +25 and +22. Their +47 two-day total, ranked fifth out of the nine competing teams. Clarkson and Hobart had a tight race at the top, finishing +31 and +32. Oswego, Nazareth, and Utica tightly competed for the middle ranks, finishing +45, +46, and +47.

Adam Degregory (Saratoga Springs, NY/Schuylerville) and Aydin Parekh (Nobleton, Ontario/Blyth Academy) tied for the lead among Utica players in individual scoring. Both men finished +10 across their two rounds, tying for 9th with two golfers from competing teams. Nathan Macdonald (Canton, MA/Canton) tied for 15th overall, finishing the event +12. Louis Roman finished +15 for a tie for 23rd overall, with Carter Lathrop (Walworth, NY/Gananda), who competed as an independent, shooting a 36th-best +22. Koltin Pickell (Ellenville, NY/Ellenvlle) had a successful +10 round on day one of the event, but did not compete on the second day. Aman Dhiman from Hobart won the individual scoring, shooting -2 and -3 in his two rounds, the only two rounds from any competitor in the event to score below par.

Utica had three rounds shot +5 or below. Aydin Parekh (Nobleton, Ontario/Blyth Academy) had the best individual round, shooting +3 on day one. This ties his career-best with Utica, which he set just a few weeks ago during the SUNY Poly Invitational. Parekh continues to show excellence on the Oswego course, as he had already played his best single round of the year at Oswego in both his freshman and sophomore years. He started out red hot, birdieing the first hole, and then scoring eight consecutive pars to finish the front nine -1. He scored five pars and one birdie on the back nine to complete his +3 round.

Adam Degregory (Saratoga Springs, NY/Schuylerville) improved his ranking on the second day, shooting +4. His round saw 13 pars and one birdie. Louis Roman shot up the rankings on day two with a +5 round. Roman had a nearly identical line, also tallying one birdie, but shooting one less par. Macdonald and Parekh finished very close to their teammates, turning in +6 and +7 scorecards.

The team will compete again next weekend, when they travel to compete in the Nazareth Fall Invitational. On day one of the event, Sunday, October 5th, teams will compete at Ravenwood Golf Club in Victor, NY. The following day, play will take place at Locust Hill Country Club in Pittsford, NY.
