OSWEGO, NY - Utica University's men's golf team has finished its final event of the 2025-26 season, the Oswego State Spring Invitational. Spread across two days at the Oswego Country Club, the Pioneers turned in a team score of +51, tying for fourth best in a field of eight teams. After combining for a +34 score on day one, the orange and blue cut their score exactly in half on day two, tying for the best round of any team. The squad's individual scoring was led by a top-five finish, with all four team scorers shooting inside the top 25.
Freshman
Koltin Pickell (Ellenville, NY/Ellenvlle) led the orange and blue by shooting +8 across two days at the par-71 course. Pickell improved from day one to day two, lowering his stroke count by three on the front nine and four on the back nine to make strides up the leaderboard on the second day.
Louie Roman (Oswego, NY/Oswego) and
Nathan MacDonald (Canton, MA/Canton) tied in the 15th and 16th spots with scores of +13. Roman had similar rounds, shooting 78 on day one and 77 on day two, while MacDonald had one of the best day-to-day improvements in the event. His day one scorecard, 82, featured eight bogeys and one double bogey, before he cut day two to two bogeys, one double, and added two birdies, climbing 11 spots on the leaderboard. Neil Roman (Oswego, NY/Oswego) was part of a four-way tie for 24th with +17 scores. The senior turned in a +10 scorecard on day one, and +7 on day two.
Daniel Maloney (Syracuse, NY/Living Word Academy) turned in +14 and +9 rounds to place 33rd individually. Just one shot behind,
Phoenix Weydig (Kenwood, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) competed as an independent, with scorecards of 87 and 79. Utica's final participant, again as an independent, was
Carter Lathrop (Walworth, NY/Gananda), whose +18 and +13 rounds placed him 41st overall.
The host team, Oswego State, took the team scoring win, turning in a combined +40. Russell Sage's Ryan Arp shot +3 on day one and even on day two to win the individual scoring of the event.
